The Global Leaders Institute is thrilled to announce its 2024 Cohort, a group of 65 rising arts change-makers selected from hundreds of outstanding applicants worldwide who will pursue the MBA in Arts Innovation. These cultural leaders are shaping the future of the arts in their communities and beyond.
2024 Cohort Members join the GLI representing diverse roles and domains within the arts, including founders, social entrepreneurs, art curators, conservatory leaders, concert presenters, producers, theater managers, ballet dancers, film directors, career performers, cultural policy-makers, teaching artists, media consultants, instrument manufacturers, university professors, and doctoral researchers. They hail from 32 countries across six continents, including Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Guadeloupe, Historic Palestine and the Levant, India, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, St. Maarten, Switzerland, Uganda, United Kingdom, and The United States.
2024 Fellows benefit from a range of new additions to the Arts Innovation MBA curriculum including new modules on Economics (curated by the University of Chicago’s Department of Economics) and Organizational Theory (curated by faculty of the New York University Wagner School of Public Administration), two Harvard methodologies designed for teamwork experiences (Adaptive Leadership & Immunity to Change), and three Innovation Summit opportunities to meet and work live with peers: Peru (Arequipa), Chile (Panguipulli), and the Digital Innovation Summit.
Members of the GLI Advisory Board including Co-Chair Nathan Shabot shared warm words of welcome at Orientation: “As a member of the Advisory Board, I’m very excited to welcome the most diverse cohort The Global Leaders Institute has ever seen. This cohort is not only the most varied in nationalities but also in professional backgrounds. We look forward to supporting you in different ways throughout your journey and beyond graduation.”
The 2024 Cohort engaged with the GLI Academic team, the Management team, and the program’s founders. Mark Gillespie, co-founder of The Global Leaders Institute, welcomed the cohort thus: “Everyone is a co-founder of the journey that is about to happen this year. This is very much a collaborative and participatory journey. While much of the content comes from the faculty and the participatory experiences in the field, so much of the value of the journey comes from the contributions that each of you makes and the perspectives and experiences that each of you brings.”
In this spirit of collaboration and co-founding of the 2024 cohort journey, GLI Fellows were met with words of encouragement and four critical pieces of guidance to make the most of the academic year ahead:
1. Be radically open-minded.
Navigating change means letting go of our attachment to what is known and familiar to welcome the unexpected.
2. Make knowledge a moving target.
Be ready to move quickly from one framework to the next without getting fixated, engaging in teamwork experiences along the way that will familiarize ideas within real-world contexts.
3. Hold yourself to the highest standard.
You will get out of this journey what you put into it. For this, it is vital that you understand the threshold that lies within. Focus on your path, comparing yourself only to yourself.
4. Trust the process.
Lean into discomfort. There is no growth without it. Challenges promise new capabilities at the other side of the threshold.
Please join us in congratulating and welcoming this exceptionally talented and motivated group as they embark on a journey of discovery and growth.
