Audience Connections: Five Engines of Engagement

Want to engage more with your audience?

Navigating the landscape of community building can feel daunting. Here are five ways to help  —

  • Moving Connections: A good way to build a community is to bring the audience on the creative journey with you. Look for ways to give them access to processes they may not normally see.
  • Serve a Purpose: Don’t just share what excites you; create content that also serves your audience. Consider questions and themes in their lives and how you can enhance the way they interact with these themes.
  • Empower Communication: Create a two-way dialogue with your audience. Look for ways to bring them into the show, motivating them to actively participate in sharing content.
  • Video Vibes: Dynamic imagery is a great way to grab attention when it’s eye-catching and relatable. Engagement is not one-size-fits-all; experiment to see what works.
  • Platform Powerplay: Use different channels to work for you in different ways. Create content in various feels, formats, and lengths that match these.

Remember, engaging is not about output — it’s about building a meaningful experience around your work.

The GLI recognizes that across the arts, many of the highest-level career artists (prodigies, dancers, etc.) have pursued their professions from a young age and therefore may not possess a conventional academic background.

GLI acknowledges these exceptional career experiences, which in certain cases may serve in place of the bachelor’s degree required for admission to the Global Arts MBA.
